Unit 2 Reflection

In unit 2 I have learned a lot about how the mind, body, and spirit need to be treated together in order to achieve optimal health.  As a nurse this is important information to have, especially when working with the elderly population and those patients at end of life. In the medical field nurses, doctors, radiologists, and other disciplines tend to only focus on the biological and scientific way to fix a problem as opposed to using emotions and spirituality, or even religion to help heal their patients ailments.

  1. As a fellow nurse I agree with you. The elderly population and those with terminal illness or hospice patients need not only the biological aspect of their disease to be recognized and treated, but they need their spiritual and psychological being to be cared for to. Great post!

  2. Great post Megan! I think a lot of health practitioners have put too much emphasis on the physical are only now accepting that the emotional and mental state of their patients is just as important if not more important than the physical. I hope these practices make you an even better nurse.

  3. What a wonderful post Megan! I agree that many health professionals need to be aware of all types of wellness aspects and not focus on just what makes the body in a physical sense better. It needs to be emotional, mental, physical and spiritual.
