Unit 3 Blog

I would rate my physical, spiritual, and psychological well being overall the same grade on a 1-10 scale and give myself a 5.  With my busy schedule working full time as a registered nurse and taking three online classes for my BSN I have no time for myself.  I know it is crucial to create this time for myself.  The exercise for this blog with the relaxation technique was very calming and did not take that long.  It was nice to listen the man's voice.  It was very soothing and did not take that much time out of my day; I think the sad thing is if it was not assigned to me for school I would never make time to do something like that for myself.  Physically I would love to have more time to go to the gym, to my Zumba, and do my yoga...but once again there is not enough time in the day.  I also believe my exercise helps with my psychological well being because it makes me feel better about my self and releases endorphins.  Spiritually I would love to begin going to church again.  Hopefully with the knowledge from this course and when my schedule slows down I can incorporate my yoga and listening relaxation techniques such as in this weeks blog assignment into my life.

  1. Megan,
I understand what you mean when you said there is not enough time to do the things we are asked to do in this class. I am in the same boat. I feel like I have become pretty much sedentary with my life because I work anywhere from 10 to 13 hour days and then school full time. It's crazy. Like you I don't think I would do the relaxation exercises unless I was instructed to by this course; in fact I know I wouldn't. It was very soothing and helped to calm my already stressed nerves. Unfortunately, I opened my eyes mid way through because all I could think of was how I still had so much to do and I needed to hurry through the relaxation exercise. I hope you are able to accomplish your goals and still keep up with school and work. I know you can do it. I look forward to the next 7 weeks of this class with you. :)

  2. Hi Megan,
I can relate to your busy schedule, as I also work full time and have three children and a husband. Finding the right balance between work, school and family is sometimes difficult and can cause undue stress.
I also enjoyed the relaxation exercise, although I was interrupted frequently by the sound of "mom" lol. If I was able to find a time to utilize this technique in an area where I am completely alone, I think it would be very beneficial, the only issue is when that time will happen. Good luck to you with your future goals.

  3. Hi Megan,
I’m glad you enjoy the relaxation exercise. I would say the same, but I passed out. The last thing I remember was the color green above the belly button. I usually work out after work and by the time I get home is midnight and I am usually tired. The lack of sleep got to me last night. I wish you luck in your career and school. In time you will have more time for yourself. Going to the gym does relax one, especially when we have a lot work and school going on. Maybe planning out a schedule could help. So you can have time for yourself to do yoga, or things you enjoy.
