Unit 4: Loving-Kindness

I did this exercise for Loving-Kindness in my room and tried very hard to focus and follow the instructions from the book.  I found this exercise to be some what difficult for me since I have a bit of ADD and at times have trouble sitting still and concentrating my thoughts.  I think this exercise would be beneficial to people to take time to focus on their feelings, especially those positive feelings such as love to create a better emotional state.  Making a mental workout can be beneficial to your health as I have learned in these past few weeks and can make a person have more clarity, so I would think this would be beneficial for people to incorporate into their lives or at least try to.  I think it is important to not only train our bodies but our minds as well.

  1. Megan,
I liked reading your post and appreciated your honesty. I found myself c=becoming more disturbed at times when listening to the exercise because my mind would begin to wonder on how many other things I had to take care of, which in turn filled me with a whole new set of negative emotions. I believe that training the mind is not only beneficial but essential to achieving an overall mind body health. We may be healthy on the outside, yet if we are internalizing ill emotions we are not completely whole, therefore we cannot function the way we are meant to.

  2. I too had a difficult time performing this exercise, for similar reasons. I have a hard time just sitting down and listening and clearing my mind. My mind is always thinking one step ahead, and I feel like I should be doing something else like laundry or cleaning. I think we both could benefit from this because the more we try to do it, the better we will get and we can only continue to improve and work towards having a healthier mind.
